My Ramones T-shirt*

I'm fully aware that I'm not wearing an album cover but all the Ramones T-shirts I found on Google were nowhere near as cool as mine. Maybe I'll replace it with one of the genuine article when I get my camera back. Mine is soft and skinny and burgundy with the logo in black so its not like "Look I like to pretend I'm a badass" stamped very confrontationally accross my boobs. Its exactly long enough to wear with low rise jeans and its top stitched like its inside-out but the seams are all on the inside. Its pretty much the most comfortable thing I own. Its also tagless, I'm pretty sure the garment tag is the worst thing ever invented. The person who thought up the garment tag should have to pay reparations like Alfred Nobel does for dynamite.
I bought my Ramones T-shirt at the Urban Outfitters in Schaumberg (just like Lansing but more terrifying) the second week of college. This means my its approaching its second birthday but I think since I bought it on clearance (for cinco freakin' do-lar-ays!)its safe to say that the UO had it for a while. I had wanted a Ramones T-shirt for like, oh-my entire life, UO started carrying them when I was in the eighth grade and all of the sudden they were ubiquitous.
Once, in Mr. Arbanas' eight grade science class, I asked a girl who was wearing one, let's call her Shmorteny Shmodbeck, if she could name one of the Ramones. She couldn't. Despite the fact that they were all listed in one inch letters on her freakin' shirt. Its weird how you remember that stuff. I was a really obnoxious 14 year old. So I didn't buy one for like five years because I didn't want people to think I was a moron who didn't even know the music.
Even now, I'm really paranoid that people think I'm an idiot when I wear this. I even study up so that if some annoying 14 year old decides to question my true fannishness I can be like, "Fuck yeah, and did you know Johnny and Tommy were in a band called Tangerine Puppets together?" I am a moron. But I'm a moron in a really comfortable Ramones T-shirt.

*let it be known that this post only refers to my Ramones T-shirt, the one that is specifically on my body. Ramones T-shirts in general make my unhappy. See post for example.

The First Thing That Makes Me Happy

Things I've Bought That I Love- The first thing that makes me happy has to be the awesome Mindy Kaling's fabulous blog about shit she's bought because I totally ripped off the idea for this blog from hers. Last night/this morning/like four hours ago I was trying to avoid writing the last 164 words of my Weimar Culture final and visiting various blogs and I wish i remember which one because I owe them my eternal gratitude because I *adore* Things I've Bought That I Love.
Its adorable and I very rarely describe things as adorable but she's freakin' Kelly Kapoor from the Office (and she's a writer which makes me love her 50 times more) and its great, and girly and now I know the only five nail polish colors I will ever need! And I think its hilarious when she plugs things like charities because you can tell she feels a little guilty about perpetuating the materialism but she shouldn't because writing happy things on the Internet is really community service. I just feel like there's so much negativity in the blogosphere (omigod I just said blogosphere, I'm such a moron), and there is absolutely none of the that on Things I've Bought That I Love.
So this is me, attempting to put a little bit of positivity back on the web with Things That Make Me Happy. It'll probably be a little bit less adorable than Mindy's (I think she'd want me to call her Mindy) because I do enjoy the schadenfreude and I'm not a super brilliant comedy writer, and I'll probably quit after like a week because that's what I do but whatever, I've been awake for 27 caffeine free hours. And now, I'm going to watch Dawson's Creek, why? Because it makes me happy.

Okay, so I just found out that Mindy Kaling co-wrote/starred in Matt and Ben. You can buy that in the Barnes and Noble in Lansing, Michigan! You can only buy five plays that aren't by Shakespeare or Arthur Miller in Lansing, Michigan! She must have been like 20 minutes out of college. I should get writing something awesome to produce 20 minutes out of college. Shit..that is not a topic for Things That Make Me Happy.
